Thankful Thursday

I started out this month by saying that I was going to end every post by saying one thing that I was thankful for. Well, in order to do that I would have to post and I haven't done that but once since the beginning of the month. I just haven't had anything that has really turned into a post in my mind so I've been a slacker on the blog front. For that reason, today I'm just going to list some things I'm thankful for in order to make up for my lack of thankfulness posts. These are in random order:

  • I have a washing machine that works! Our washing machine stopped working last Thursday night and Mike couldn't work on it because it was new and still under warranty. When we called for a repair appointment with the company they said that today was the earliest appointment for a repairman. I have been moaning and groaning for a week about carrying Mt. Laundry back and forth to my Momma's and my sisters. Tonight my Momma told me a story about one of her customers and some hard times they were enduring that made me feel guilty for even one moment of complaints. It reminded me that I should feel thankful for even small things which I often take for granted: I have a washing machine and the electricity to run it and the money to buy detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets, and my family and I have a ton of clothes which need to be washed on a daily basis because we have full, busy lives.
  • I have to say again that I am thankful that I have healthy children. I read so many stories on blogs about people who have children that are struggling with life threatening health issues. I can't even imagine how horrible it must be to face the thought of losing your child and being powerless to help them or to stop their pain.
  • I am thankful for my husband, who doesn't complain (too much!) when I spend time on the phone talking to my mother and my sisters and understands how important my relationship with them is to me. He helps with homework, reads stories, throws footballs and baseballs, and generally devotes most of his free time to our children and me. He doesn't complain no matter what I fix him or bring him for supper-whether it's take-out, salad or hot dogs, something warmed up in the microwave or a regular home cooked meal. He works hard but he also takes time for his family and I'm lucky to have him and I should remember to tell him that more often.
  • I am thankful that we live in a wonderful neighborhood where my children can ride their bikes and play with the neighborhood children. In this day and age, it is great to have a feeling of nostalgia about kids just being able to play outside and be kids and we definitely have that in our neighborhood.

That's certainly not all I have to be thankful for but hopefully it will catch me up until I can get inspired to get busy on another post. Hope you're having a Thankful Thursday, too!

What a great idea, Kristy! Hope you let Mike read what you said - it was very sweet. :)
